The following information shows which subjects require students to sit a test or tests as part of their application, and where to find details about how to register. Specimen papers are also available to download below.
Changes
Please note the following changes for 2012 entry. See the course details below for further information.
- The registration arrangements for the History Aptitude Test (HAT) and Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) have changed.
- All tests for Classics and for Modern Languages will now take place on 2 November 2011.
- Candidates for all Engineering courses are now required to take the Physics Aptitude Test(PAT) on 2 November 2011.

Classics
All candidates for Classics must take a test or tests on 2 November 2011. For Classics I candidates, this will be in Latin and/or Greek. Classics II candidates will take a Language Aptitude Test.

Classics and English
Candidates must take a test or tests for Classics AND the English Literature Admissions Test (ELAT) on 2 November 2011.

Candidates must take a test for Classics AND a test for Modern Languages on 2 November 2011.

Classics and Oriental Studies (Classics with Oriental Studies - Q8T9)
Candidates who are studying neither Latin nor Greek to A-level or equivalent must take the Language Aptitude Test for Classics on 2 November 2011.
Candidates who are studying either Latin or Greek or both to A-level or equivalent will sit a test in the relevant language on 2 November 2011.

Language Aptitude Test for Classics
Classics and Oriental Studies (Classics with Oriental Studies - T9Q8)
Candidates who are shortlisted for interview will be required to sit the Language Aptitude Test for Oriental Studies during the Oxford interview period in December if they intend to study Arabic, Hebrew, Persian or Turkish as their main language in the first year.

Computer Science
All candidates must take the Mathematics Aptitude Test on 2 November 2011.

All candidates for all Engineering courses must take the Physics Aptitude Test on 2 November 2011.

All candidates will need to take a test for Modern Languages on 2 November 2011. Candidates who are shortlisted for interview must take a Language Aptitude Test for Oriental Studies in December 2011.
